COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

We are looking for a full-time Communications Manager to join our team. This position reports to the General Manager and is responsible for managing external and internal communication projects, including writing creative content, collaborating with graphic designers, coordinating all deliverables, tracking requirements of the entire project, and proactively identifying and mitigating any schedule risks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the GVSUD brand through compelling storytelling. This person will lead and manage internal and external communications efforts, including the firm’s social media strategy, website presence, speaking engagements, public relations, and marketing efforts. In addition, the person in this position will be the pivot for any crisis communications, including weather situations.

This is a terrific role for an organized and detail-oriented individual with strong writing and verbal skills who can effectively create a structured, systematic approach to executing strategic initiatives with a creative flair.

The Communications Manager is not a supervisory role.

Position Responsibilities

This communication position establishes cohesive messaging across all channels and engages internal and external stakeholder groups while maintaining brand standards and building awareness. As a management team member, this person is responsible for creating clear, meaningful, timely, and informative communications across the company, GVSUD’s entire region, and all the cities/ETJs included in that region.

Develop and implement a comprehensive PR strategy, including maintaining a media list, following editorial calendars, writing and distributing press releases, and pitching and ghostwriting articles.Implement strategies for updating website content and monitoring analytics.Manage and execute the firm’s social media strategy.Interview technical staff and write content for announcements, press releases, articles, blog posts, presentations, scripts, abstracts, and award submissions.

Proactively solicit content ideas internally and establish relationships with key contributors.

Take a lead role in compiling company data for various industry surveys.

Manage assigned communication projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all activities are effectively and efficiently coordinated and completed on time.

Create and maintain a consistent voice for all communication materials.

Interpret and synthesize complex information clearly and concisely for a variety of audiences.

Assist with other marketing efforts, as assigned.

Write and edit effective digital and print content, newsletters, website copy, internal memorandums,

stakeholder communications, and social media


Design and create internal and external print and digital materials, and/or coordinate creation and

design with an outside vendor


Update social media accounts and websites with relevant content and posts


Photograph and video capital improvement projects, new facility construction, and events as needed.


Ability to organize and maintain an ongoing digital library for all branding efforts.


Manage the print process from obtaining bids to working with printer and mail house, including business
cards, letterhead, name badges, and other printed and promotional materials

Experience and Qualifications

Minimum of eight (8) years of experience.

Experience with external communications and/or public relations and marketing programs, including

planning, execution, and measurement. Also needs experience in internal communications and special
events.


Stellar writing and editing skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate a clear point of view
on complicated topics.


Familiarity with AP and technical style.


Exceptional interpersonal skills, a focused listener able to work quickly, thoughtfully, and collaboratively
with different personalities.


Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments from conception to completion on deadline with
minimal supervision; excellent attention to detail.


Periodic travel to TRWA conventions is required. The job will include treks into the field to obtain
photographs and videos of capital improvement projects, etc., for use in communications materials,
including presentations, social media, and the GVSUD website.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. GVSUD offers a competitive
benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.


Green Valley SUD covers $795.00 monthly toward employee health insurance premiums and $5.00 a
month toward a $50,000 Life Insurance Policy.


457B Retirement Plan is available to employees after 30 days of employment. The employee can
contribute up to ten percent (10%) per pay period. The District will match the employee’s contribution
up to six percent (6%) per pay period. The District will contribute an additional four percent (4%) from
the previous year’s wages during April of the following year. All contributions exclude bonuses, overtime pay and commissions, and on-call pay.
